My favourite spots in London

I have been living in London for almost five years now, and my enthusiasm to explore this incredible city never seems to fade. From day 1 I’ve been building a huge list of places to go, then a second one featuring all the places I’ve actually been to, and finally a list of favourites, that’s also super long, as London offers SO MUCH and has options for any mood, intention, weather, season…

So I was happy to share some of these places with Scout London, a lovely blog that features interviews with many Londoners — you must check all of them here, and mine is below! (I’ll definitely be doing more posts about London, so stay tunned!)

Name: Vic Ceridono

Age: 31

Career: Beauty Journalist / Founder of blog Dia de Beauté

Neighbourhood: St John’s Wood

Hometown: São Paulo – Brazil

Favourite breakfast spot/what you order? Chiltern Firehouse, I just love the vibe of that place at any time of the day or night, really. Or my local Ivy St John’s Wood. For me it’s always scrambled or fried eggs and toast + green tea.

You never leave the house without? My iPhone – it’s my work station as I’m always working on the go – and lip balm. Addicted.

Best pub/drinks spot? The bar at The Ritz for a fancy night out, Little House or Electric for a cozy & fun night out

You are always window shopping for? For vintage jewelry at S.J. Phillips and other shops around Mayfair

Best Sunday roast/fish & chips? My locals. The Salt House and The Clifton, and The Ladbroke Arms. Going for a Sunday roast is one of my favourite London traditions!

Best cheap eat/what you order? Chicken Shop for roast chicken and corn on the cob. Yummy

Favourite workout/location? I have a personal trainer that comes at my house and, if the weather allows, we work out on the roof top. I also play squash with my husband at Paddington Sports Club

Favourite cinema/theatre: Everyman Maida Vale

Where do you go for your favourite meal? I love Italian food (my Italian roots might have an influence on that), I love Cecconi’s and La Famiglia is another favourite for special occasions

Best way to spend a Saturday in the sun/in the rain in London? Just walking around in London on a sunny day is amazing, everyone is SO HAPPY. I’d go to a park, Regents Park or Primrose Hill, then lunch outdoors somewhere. In the rain, cinema at Everyman Maida Vale

Best kept London secret? The Clifton Nurseries, it’s like a mini / in town version of Petersham Nurseries, very hidden and so lovely

Best mode of London transport? The Tube and a black cab

Best places for hair/nails/wax/tan? DryBy for a good blow dry and nails. I also rate Larry King and Windle & Moodie for a great blow dry. The Ruuby App is my choice to book at home treatments, it’s very well curated

Best weekend away from the city? Love the Cotswolds, staying at either Soho Farmhouse or The Wild Rabbit and going to the Daylesford farm for lunch

Where do you go to grab lunch Monday-Friday (office eats)? Go Chisou, great sushi and very quick and convenient

Best app for the city? Quiqup – they can easily collect or send things or use them to buy stuff when you have a last minute issue. Like when you run out of ice during a summer barbecue

Best food/antique market? Borough Market and Alfie’s Antique Market

Best spot for coffee in London? I don’t like coffee, but LOVE tea, specially green tea. Monocle Cafe and Fernandez & Wells are good for on the go, but for a real London experience it has to be The Wolseley!

Best afternoon tea? Claridge’s

Best London bookshop? Daunt Books in Marylebone – dreamy

Favourite London hotel? Claridge’s and The Connaught are such London institutions, you can’t go wrong!

Favourite London shop? tough question… But I love Selfridges and Liberty, they have such a London vibe, amazing selection of brands, impossible not to find what you’re looking for

Favourite restaurant for dinner/what you order? At the moment I’m obsessed with Isabel – the short rib ravioli is to die for. Cecconi’s is probably the place we go to the most, even sitting at the counter and having spaghetti pomodoro is great. And every Sunday evening we do a São Paulo tradition and go for pizza at Pizza East in Notting Hill

Favourite museum/gallery/park and why? Tate Modern has my favourite permanent collection (also love walking around the area). Saatchi Gallery always has interesting exhibitions going on and The Wallace Collection is a less well known gem

Weekend wardrobe staples/ office workwear staples? I do the jeans / shirt / cashmere / Church’s Chelsea boots combo a lot for the day and love dressing up at night, in my vintage dresses and big earrings!

Restaurant you are dying to try? the new Nobu in Shoreditch

Favourite vintage shop? Rellik, Rokit, Deborah Woolf, the shops at Camden Market and the Peekaboo selection at Topshop Oxford Circus is pretty good and easy to navigate for those not used to vintage shopping!
